Smokey has acquired a cowboy hat, a revolver and a rather questionable approach to collecting valuables. In Le Outlaw, Hacksaw Gaming turns a winning wild into a gun cylinder, then uses its shots to uncover prizes across the reels.

That gives the shooting a proper job beyond decorating another Western. Cluster wins lead into reveals, reloads can extend the sequence, and the free-spin bonuses gradually give Smokey more ammunition to work with.

The result has plenty for players who enjoy interacting features, although understanding when everything activates takes more effort than spotting a matching group of cowboy hats.

Theme and base game

The town is painted in purple night-time colours, with Smokey stationed beside a wooden grid. Hats, cacti, crossed pistols, cattle skulls and sheriff badges sit alongside the usual card symbols; the wanted poster does double duty as the wild.

It is an appealing cartoon Western, particularly the contrast between the serious gunslinger pose and the raccoon wearing it. The cleanly separated grid also helps when ordinary symbols give way to several kinds of feature prize.

Wins require five or more connected matching symbols. Super Cascades then remove every regular symbol of the winning type, including matching symbols outside the paid cluster, before replacements fall into the gaps.

New clusters continue the sequence until no further win forms. At a €2 stake, five sheriff badges pay €2, rising to €400 for 14 or more: respectively 1x and 200x the base bet.

The crucial wild rule is that it must belong to a winning cluster to become a Revolver Cylinder. Simply landing a wanted poster does not automatically start the shooting.

Revolver Reveals

A transformed cylinder carries two to six shots and stops acting as a wild. It fires after the cluster wins and cascades finish; multiple cylinders activate from top to bottom, then left to right.

The Revolver Cylinder uses its shots to uncover special symbols.

Shots uncover Coins, Diamonds, Clovers, Loot Bags or Reload symbols. Coins range from 1x to 100x across bronze, silver and gold types, while Diamonds carry 150x, 250x or 500x before multipliers.

Hitting a Coin again upgrades its type, and another hit turns a green Clover gold. Reloads replenish every cylinder with another two to six shots, so an initial allocation need not be the end of the sequence.

Once shooting and reloads finish, cash values are revealed and Clovers apply multipliers of 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x or 20x. Green Clovers affect adjacent prizes, whereas gold ones reach Coins, Diamonds and existing Loot Bags across the board.

Loot Bags then collect Coin, Diamond and previously activated Bag values. Their collection can lead to another reveal cycle at the shot positions, which explains why the order of events matters rather more than the number of shiny objects alone.

There is a satisfying logic to that sequence: reveal something, improve it, then collect it. The complication is keeping track of which symbols can still change while the process is underway.

Free spins and the bonus gamble

Le Outlaw features

High Noon Saloon

Three FS scatters together award 10 free spins with an increased chance of triggering Revolver Cylinders. Two further FS symbols together add two spins; three add four.

This is the most straightforward bonus, retaining the base-game rules while making its central feature more prominent. There is no separate bullet stockpile to follow.

Trail of Trickery

Four FS scatters award 10 free spins and introduce the Bullet Collector. Each win adds one bullet, with the accumulated ammunition fired on the final free spin after cylinders and reloads have resolved.

The Bullet Collector stores a shot for each winning spin in Trail of Trickery.

Those shots uncover another set of feature symbols. The same two- and three-scatter retriggers apply, giving the collector more spins in which to build if an extension lands.

The delayed volley gives this round its own identity. You are building towards a final event, rather than receiving every benefit immediately.

Pistols at Dawn

Five FS scatters trigger the top tier with 10 free spins. Its collector starts at five bullets and fires on every spin, retaining the amount held before activation and continuing to collect from subsequent wins.

Silver is the lowest Coin type here, removing bronze values from the feature. FS symbols cannot land, so the lower tiers’ scatter retriggers do not apply.

Gambling an awarded bonus

Before High Noon Saloon or Trail of Trickery begins, you can keep the awarded round or gamble it. The first tier offers an upgrade to Trail of Trickery or a cash prize from 1x to 100x; the second offers Pistols at Dawn or cash from 5x to 500x.

A cash result replaces the bonus you risked. This is not a free attempt to improve your round, and a successful first upgrade does not oblige you to gamble again.

The pictured revolver does not establish equal odds for its outcomes. Keeping the bonus is a complete option in its own right; Smokey can holster the sales pitch.

FeatureSpins and bonus buys

Le Outlaw includes both FeatureSpins and direct purchases, with the following reported prices.

Option Reported cost At a €0.20 base bet
Bonushunt FeatureSpins 3x per spin €0.60 per spin
Wild West FeatureSpins 75x per spin €15 per spin
High Noon Saloon 65x per bonus €13
Trail of Trickery 250x per bonus €50

FeatureSpins remain active until disabled, so their price applies repeatedly. Direct purchases buy a bonus entry; neither route guarantees that the resulting payout will cover its cost.

The rules also state that FS symbols cannot land during Wild West FeatureSpins. It therefore should not be confused with an enhanced chance of naturally triggering free spins.

Verdict

Le Outlaw makes good use of its theme. Turning a wanted-poster wild into a cylinder is a neat connection between the artwork and the rules, and the reveal sequence has enough interactions to justify more than a cursory explanation.

The bonus progression is equally coherent. High Noon emphasises cylinders, Trail of Trickery saves ammunition for a finale, and Pistols at Dawn brings the collector into every spin.

Its main drawback is the amount to follow once reloads, multipliers and collecting bags overlap. Players who prefer to see a combination pay and move straight on may find the extra stages cumbersome.

The 25,000x ceiling is substantial, but it is a hard cap: reaching it ends the round and discards remaining bonus activity. It tells us nothing about how readily that outcome occurs.

For players who enjoy feature interactions and accumulating progress, there is a well-connected design underneath Smokey’s costume. The optional bonus gamble adds another decision, though the game has enough going on without treating an upgrade attempt as compulsory.

Pros

  • Revolver Reveals gives the Western theme a direct role in gameplay.
  • Three bonus tiers change how and when extra shots are awarded.
  • The main reveal feature is available during base play.

Cons

  • Several activation stages make prize sequences harder to follow.
  • Bonus gambling can replace an awarded round with a small cash payout.

Rating: 80/100. Strong feature connections and distinct bonus progression earn the score, while the layered rules make it less accessible to players who prefer simpler games.
